There's one thing about older traditional folding knives that always was a problem. They were hard to clean thoroughly. CRKT Field Strip has countered with a knife that disassembles with a side button. Rock the button into the long slot, push forward with your thumb, and remove the side. It completely disassembles from there for a great thorough cleaning. It snaps back together as solid as any other knife.
The CRKT Cottidae is a mid sized knife at 6.375" open. Assisted Open snaps the blade out fast with the back flipper. The blade has a nice wide finger choil and the handle is ridiculously grippy. The blade is all belly, which makes it a nice slice and skinner knife. CRKT calls it a Mechanic's knife, and I agree, it would cut through hoses, belts and boxes just fine. The aluminum handle will resist oil and grease, most solvents and cleaners. Whether you decide to take the Cottidae to work, EDC, hunt, or fishing, it's going to be a solid performer. The "boxy" design rings all of my 1980's bells. That Blade thickness, at 0.13, it looks even thicker. She THICK boyz!
I've been carrying this one in rotation for a while now, and I am always impressed with the quality of this knife, and we're proud to bring it to you!
